Fermi Surface and Magnetism in the Kondo lattice: a Continuum Field Theory Approach
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider the Fermi surface inside the antiferromagnetic ordered region of a Kondo lattice system in an arbitrary dimension higher than one. We establish the existence of AFS, an antiferromagnetic phase whose Fermi surface is “small,” in the sense that the local moments do not participate in the Fermi-surface formation. This is in contrast to the “large” Fermi surface that is typically assumed for heavy fermion metals. We extend our earlier work to the case that the Fermi surface of the conduction electrons intersects the antiferromagnetic Brillouin zone boundary. Our results provide a new perspective on local quantum criticality. In addition, our results imply that, for the AFS phase, it is important to keep track of the dynamical screening processes; we suggest that this effect is not captured in a recent variational Monte-Carlo study of the Kondo lattice.

Bosonization approach to the one-dimensional Kondo lattice model
The one-dimensional Kondo lattice model is investigated by using bosonization techniques and conformal field theory. In the half-filled band, the charge and spin gaps open for the anti-ferromagnetic Kondo coupling. Away from half-filling, the paramagnetic metallic state is characterized by the fixed point of TomonagaLuttinger liquid with the large Fermi surface in accordance with known results....

The single-particle spectrum of the Kondo lattice model is derived with the use of the continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo method, combined with the dynamical mean-field theory. Crossover behavior is traced quantitatively either to a heavy Fermi-liquid state or to a magnetically ordered state from the local-moment state at high temperatures. The momentum distribution in the low-temperature limi...
متن کاملMetallic ferromagnetism in the Kondo lattice.
Metallic magnetism is both ancient and modern, occurring in such familiar settings as the lodestone in compass needles and the hard drive in computers. Surprisingly, a rigorous theoretical basis for metallic ferromagnetism is still largely missing. The Stoner approach perturbatively treats Coulomb interactions when the latter need to be large, whereas the Nagaoka approach incorporates thermodyn...

It is a common knowledge that the formation of electron pairs is a necessary ingredient of any theoretical work describing superconductivity. Thus, finding the mechanism of the formation of the electron pairs is of utmost importance. There are some experiments on high transition temperature superconductors which support the electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions as the pairing mechanism (ARPES),...
